Balmy December

You gotta love these perfect December days! We skipped school this week to enjoy it and to do educational things! In addition to bike riding, we spent the afternoon exploring science at COSI.

I am a lazy blogger and and obnoxious parent. I cannot resist posting the lovely comments from Rain's and Finn's teachers about how well they are doing in school. It is sick, but indulge me:)

Finn at OSU and Rain's Tooth

Here is a photo of the first lost tooth. It happened a week ago and the new one looks great. There is already another loose tooth next to the first! I also am attaching some photos of Finn at OSU. He went with me to talk to some undergrads and got hot, so he took off his shirt and danced around the halls. He seems prematurely ready for college:)

Baby Teeth!

It is with a heavy heart that I report the first loose tooth in Rain's life. He is intrigued and elated to finally have a loose tooth. He has wondered for a long time about what it might feel like. At first I thought it might be a memory before the weekend was up, but now I think it has actually tightened its grip; I'll keep y'all posted. And I hope it won't break your heart (like it does mine), but I must include the tooth's orign as well. . .

Sorry to be remiss in my blogging, but I am just about all done recovering from our fabulous vacation earlier in the month. Thanks so much to all of the friends who showed us a great time and exquisite hospitality: Kilian and Monica & Katie and Tracey. And we were so happy to see Andrea, Oona and Zora, and Jessica. Sorry we missed the Joneses, but we are already thinking about our next trip to CA and we promise to make it further south next time:) In additon to old friends, games, and eating, we also saw a great white shark (it was a baby) at the Monterey Bay Aquarium. It was too awesome. I promise to blog about the kids soon, but we are still alive and back in Ohio!

Busy Mom, Lazy Blogger!

Well another week has flown by and I have let my bloggin' fall to the wayside. All is well in the lives of Rain and Finn. At the moment, nothing seems new. Unless you can count a Saturday without soccer, spent doing laundry and dishes. We did break away from the house for a bit to play at the park. Here are some pics.

Pumpkin Patch!

Chaperoning the field trip to the pumpkin patch kicked my ass! It might have been easier if I wasn't roasting like a pumpkin seed. Altough it was warm, it was a lovely day and the children were fantabulous (not to mention the doughnuts and cider). We continue to try and negotiate these busy times. Life is hectic, beautiful.

Goodbye Sweet September!

Wow! What a month. We packed more in September than in the past year, or so it seems. It was an exciting week. Rain had his first fieldtrip. He prefers the car to the school bus because he says, "Cars get there much faster." He also had his first soccer game where he scored the first goal! Yeah Schiller Storm. Yeah Coach D. There are two coaches, both named David and the kids laughed when Dave called himself Coach P(ee). I think I said we started piano last week. If I didn't, sorry. This week we are working on Twinkle, Twinkle Little Star. Things would be progressing much more smoothly if I could remember to practice sometime before 9:00 p.m. I also need to take some pics playing the piano, sorry again. Finn is really into firefighters' poles lately. He insisted there was not one at school, but has finally relented that there is, indeed, one. He taught two kids at the the playground how to do it and enjoyed being their inspiration. Although he continues to test my limits, I have observed beautful things about him this week. He is wonderful in school and is going through a burst of creativity (6-7 drawings a day). As I said before, he is a role model and does a great job resolving conflict when I am not around to interfere. He has been kind and generous to Rain and was self-sufficient and easygoing at Rain's soccer game and practice. Although he whines and cajoles, he is growing and maturing; he is more of his lovely self everyday. I worked a bit this week and start on Monday on a regular basis. Bad news: it will not be a GA position that pays my grad school tuition. Good news: I do not need to try to work part-time, take a full course load and be some shell of a decent parent next year.
